Ductless Air Conditioning

If you are looking for a cooling solution for your house or apartment that is both efficient and won’t take up too much space, you should investigate the advantages of ductless air conditioning.  Air conditioning is a way to cool your house by pushing refrigerated air into your rooms with a fan.  It is more efficient at cooling your home than just a fan, because the moving air is dehumidified, cooled, and moving, as opposed to just moving hot air around the way a fan does.

Air conditioners come in as window units, which are bulky, pose a security risk, and suck energy, central systems which rely on a pre-installed system of ducts running throughout your entire house, and ductless air conditioning.

A ductless air conditioner has two parts, and outdoor unit and the indoor unit. The outdoor part can sit on the ground or a block or concrete next to the wall of your house.  This unit is quite small, about the size of a piece of carry-on luggage.  Being so light, it is easy to tuck in just about anywhere, no matter how small or non-existent your backyard is.  The outdoor unit of your air conditioner is attached to the indoor unit with a small tube about three inches in diameter.  This tube holds both the electrical wires as well as the refrigeration tube.  In order to install a ductless air conditioner, you will have to bore this small hole in the wall of your home, but it is much less intrusive than both a window unit and central air conditioning.

The indoor air conditioning unit is a slim bar that you mount at the top of your wall as close to the ceiling as possible.  It has adjustable vanes that let you control where you blow the cool air.  It also has adjustable speeds and temperatures so that you can control just how cool you make your rooms.  The indoor unit packs a considerable punch and can cool two or three rooms if positioned right.  It is also very energy efficient, especially compared to window units.  For example, all Sanyo ductless air conditioners are Energy Star rated.

There are many reputable manufacturers that make ductless air conditioning units.  Climastar, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, and Noritz also make this type of air conditioning unit.  However, Sanyo has the most variety and versatility of all the companies.  The Sanyo 09KS71 is a single zone unit that draws only 9000 BTU.  It can cool one or two adjoining rooms.  Compare that to the Sanyo KMS1272, a quad unit that comes with four indoor units to be installed in four different rooms of your house.  This unit has enough power to cool an entire house or office.  The Sanyo 18XS72 ductless air conditioner has a recessed ceiling indoor unit.  This makes the air conditioner even less intrusive, especially if your walls are brightly painted or papered.

Because of ductless air conditioners’ low cost, energy efficiency, easy installation, and variety of models, it is the best choice available for cooling your home still summer and for many summers to come.

We recently had a problem with our home ducting system and had to get a professional in to fix it. It was a big job and actually very expensive as well. Just goes to show that its better to pay more up front and get the thing done right the first time than need to come back and paay for repairs.

Thanks a lot for all of the information you’ve provided me. I’m not really a technical persona and to be honest know very little about ducting and cooling systems for homes so this article has really helped me out a lot! I also found your other article about how to clean air conditioning ducts to be very useful.
